Plaridel, Bulacan carries one of the most pointed naming decisions in Philippine municipal history. The town was renamed from Quingua to Plaridel in 1956 in honour of Marcelo H. del Pilar — the propagandist, journalist, and reformist who used the pen name "Plaridel" as he wrote against Spanish colonial rule from Barcelona in the 1880s and 1890s. Del Pilar was born in this very municipality, in what was then Quingua, and his pen name became so identified with his reform legacy that the town eventually took it as its own. A municipality named after a pseudonym is a municipality with a particular relationship to language, to identity, and to the power of a well-chosen word.
At flowershop.net.ph, we deliver fresh flower bouquets to Plaridel same-day — every stem sourced that morning from the Dangwa flower market in Manila and dispatched to all 19 barangays across this historically layered Bulacan municipality. Del Pilar chose his words with precision. We choose our flowers the same way — fresh, specific, delivered with full intention.
The pen name outlasted the colonial government. The flowers arrive today.

Plaridel was renamed from its original name Quingua in 1956 to honour Marcelo H. del Pilar, the 19th-century Filipino journalist, propagandist, and reformist who was born in the municipality. Del Pilar used "Plaridel" as his pen name while writing against Spanish colonial rule from Barcelona — a pseudonym that became so identified with his legacy that his birthplace eventually adopted it officially. He is considered one of the key figures of the Philippine Propaganda Movement, alongside Jose Rizal and Graciano Lopez Jaena.
